Lothian Housing Association and Link Group Ltd, owners of this site, want to make your on-line experience with us informative, safe and secure. Because we gather certain types of information about our users this privacy statement sets out to help you understand how and when we might collect and use that information.

Rest assured, on no occasion do we pass any details of an individual user to any third party and all the information gathered is used solely to improve the quality of our service to you - the user.

For your guidance there are two types of information we may gather about users:

Usage Tracking
To make Home Advantage as effective as we can, we may want to see how many people are using the site and when and how they use it. This helps us to know how effective the site and its contents are.

In doing so, we would break down overall user statistics according to a user’s domain name and browser type by reading this information from what’s called the browser string (this information is contained in every user’s browser). This monitoring helps us to understand how each web page is performing and to assess the likes and dislikes of users. We do not track what individual users read, but rather how each page is performing.

Voluntary information
Home Advantage may wish to promote up-to-date information via electronic or paper newsletter if we think it is of special interest to subscribers. If we were to do so we would use only information provided voluntarily by users – we provide an opt-out opportunity. We never share mailing lists with outside third parties unless they are working for Home Advantage and for the specific benefit of our subscribers.

We may from time-to-time seek users’ views on the site and its content through the use of on-site surveys. Any information gleaned from this will be used to develop an overall picture of user preferences and suggestions for improvement. We never share information about individual users.

Security
Home Advantage operates a secure data networks protected by industry standard, firewall and password protection systems. Our security and privacy policies are periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary and only authorised individuals have access to information provided by our customers.
